Louisiana Development Director/Consultant

POSITION TITLE: Development Director

The Louisiana Democratic Party is seeking a Development Director/Consultant to build a new donor network to launch us into our critical elections in 2019. This position will focus on finding and developing new or lapsed donors and investors as well as building events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and grow all new donor programs, from low dollar prospecting to high dollar investors
  • Writing and executing a comprehensive finance plan and securing buy-in from elected leaders, partners and allies
  • Researching donors, as well as scheduling and managing call time and meeting with the State Party Chair, Executive Director and other principals
  • Develop and Launch the Party’s Trustee Program
  • Collaborate on targeting and messaging for outbound and inbound fundraising materials
  • Development and execution of regional and statewide events, seated dinners to receptions and low dollar events
  • Work with vendors as necessary
  • Supporting other Party operations, as necessary
  • Serve as a resource for local democratic parish committees
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Comprehensive understanding of political fundraising principles and tactics including top notch research skills and existing relationships with donors
  • Proven accomplishments in difficult races
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, particularly high-level public- and donor-facing communications
  • Understanding of federal and state campaign finance laws
  • Must have working knowledge of NGP VAN campaign finance software
  • Ability to work long days and irregular hours
  • Positive and energetic attitude
  • Ability to travel throughout Louisiana and out of state if necessary
