• Oregon Communications Director

    Location: Portland, Oregon

    The Democratic Party of Oregon (DPO) seeks an experienced, dynamic communications professional to strengthen the Democratic Party’s message through earned media, social media, and rapid response efforts. The ideal applicant will have excellent writing and editing skills, experience developing and executing media strategies, and a proven ability to build strong relationships with reporters and press outlets.

    Duties Include: 

    Developing and executing an aggressive, long-term media strategy, drafting and editing news releases, responding to media inquiries, working with the DPO Chair as the Party spokesperson, and serving as on-the-record spokesperson as needed, pitching stories to local and national media, and organizing press events. The Communications Director reports to the Party Executive Director and will work in conjunction with top statewide elected Democrats including the Governor, both U.S. Senators and the Democratic team to implement messaging and strategy for the election cycle.

    Qualifications:

    At least two cycles of campaign communications experience

    Ability to work collaboratively with staff and manage multiple projects simultaneously

    Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet goals and deadlines

    Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

    Ability to manage researcher staff and interns

    Basic HTML a plus
