• Florida Deputy Political Director

    The Florida Democratic Party (FDP) is seeking a Deputy Political Director. The Deputy Political Director will join the leadership team to energize and empower local communities, recruit and train candidates for office, and help deliver Democratic victories up and down the ticket. The Deputy Political Director is responsible for:

    Responsibilities include:

    • Advising the Political Director on municipal, state level and federal campaigns
    • Assisting in the development and execution of the political outreach plan for constituency groups and stakeholders
    • Facilitating training and development of Party activists
    • Supporting 2018 campaigns with strategic planning and tactical training
    • Creatively using social media techniques and tools to amplify party objectives
    • Effectively managing conflict and providing positive resolutions
    • Working with other FDP departments to strengthen FDP’s relationships with key stakeholders, local leaders and elected officials
    • Training, managing, and developing staff within offices in the region
    • Tracking and analyzing performance.
    • Adjusting plans and strategies when necessary
    • Other assigned duties

     

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • At least two cycles on issue or electoral campaigns, with one cycle managing staff. Field, outreach or organizing experience preferred
    • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking
    • Experience and knowledge of mass email and text
    • Social media knowledge is a must
    • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Working knowledge of Florida political, electoral and legislative processes
    • Willing to work extensive hours, including nights and weekends with some travel
    • Committed to details, results, meeting goals, and consistent improvement
    • Ability to approach problem solving with creativity and initiative
    • Experience working collaboratively with elected officials, candidates, community groups, and/or allied organizations
    • High level of personal and professional integrity
    • Ability to manage conflict, work under pressure, and produce solutions
    • Ability to take direction from multiple department directors
    • Experience with Votebuilder a plus but not required
    • The ability to perform and even thrive in high stress environments
    • The ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and handle regular challenges with a positive attitude
    • The ability and willingness to work long hours and weekends
    • Access to a vehicle
